Tata Steel India

Tata Steel India achieved strong performance in the second quarter of FY2026/27. Crude steel output rose 10 percent year-on-year to 6.21 million tonnes. Strong operational efficiency at Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar drove this growth. Total first-half production reached 12 million tonnes across all Indian facilities.

Operational Growth Across Key Indian Plants

Capacity utilization remained high at both Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar facilities. Continuous annealing and galvanising lines operated at full output. Total domestic shipments reached 6 million tonnes during the quarter. This represents a 7 percent year-on-year increase despite seasonal monsoon weather.

Segment Performance and Downstream Strength

Shipments increased across multiple key industrial sectors. Automotive and specialist products hit a record 1.1 million tonnes. Branded product sales rose to 2.2 million tonnes during the period. Engineering deliveries grew 12 percent, driven by strong oil and gas demand.

Global Operations and European Developments

Operational trends varied across the European facilities. Tata Steel Netherlands produced 1.52 million tonnes during the second quarter. Its Direct Sheet Plant was recommissioned in August 2026 at design capacity. Output at Tata Steel UK reached 0.38 million tonnes during the same period.
