Tosyali Holding’s Algerian subsidiary, Tosyali Algerie, reported that its Module II facility produced a record 248.6 thousand tonnes of direct-reduced iron (DRI) in May 2026. The plant achieved consistent high-efficiency output amid robust operational performance.
Record-Breaking Output and Continuous Operation
The plant achieved an average output of 334.1 tonnes per hour during May, surpassing its previous record of 328.6 tonnes per hour set in January. Operating without any downtime throughout the month, the facility’s January-May average output reached 316.9 tonnes per hour, setting a new world record among Midrex plants and exceeding both the 2025 average and its design capacity.
Integration With Electric Arc Furnace Infrastructure
Tosyali Algerie’s DRI Module II maintains an annual production capacity of 2.5 million tonnes, capable of producing both hot direct-reduced iron (HDRI) and cold direct-reduced iron (CDRI). The facility is directly connected to an electric arc furnace via a conveyor system designed for efficient molten metal transport.
Global Benchmark for DRI Production Efficiency
Building on its previous milestone of setting a world record for annual production by a single DRI module during its first year of operation, the facility continues to serve as an industry benchmark for large-scale, high-efficiency ironmaking.
