U.S. Invests $14 Million to Promote Battery Recycling

Battery Recycling

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced a $14 million investment to boost consumer battery recycling efforts. As part of this initiative, Staples and Batteries Plus will each receive $7 million to set up recycling bins in their stores. This plan aims to reduce electronic waste by establishing over 1,000 new disposal sites nationwide, making it easier for consumers to recycle old batteries and the devices they power.

The DOE highlighted that the recycled materials will be repurposed to create new batteries and a variety of electronic devices, including mobile phones, laptops, and smartwatches.
